First Task

First Task:
a: your best piece of creative work before coming to this course, think laterally if you have not done "conventional" art or design

This is my major work piece for Industrial Technology: Timber and Furniture in Year 12. it was designed and completed over a 32 weeks with a portfolio for the submission of the final product. the coffee table is approximately 1200x720x60 and weights about 60 kilograms due to the use of a variety of different hardwoods which have a high density. the construction process required minimal fittings due to the wide variety of joints being available with the material of timber making the project solid and durable,

b: an image of a great piece of architecture

I photographed this residential high rise called the Abode318 on Russell Street in Melbourne’s CBD which was developed by PDG and Schiavello. This building is appealing due to its unique design and external texture which makes it an iconic landmark to Melbourne siders. Abode318 comprises over 436 apartments within a 56 level tower. There are over 80 unique floor plans,  with panoramic city views and each with ambient natural light.

c: an original photograph of something beautiful

Seashells are not known for their use in fertiliser, they are ground down and used in fertiliser due to their excellent source of calcium carbonate which raises the soils pH and calcium levels . They have been used as instruments for hundreds of years in areas like Japan, Tibet and the Caribbean. The most likely explanation for the wave-like noise in seashells is ambient noise from surroundings. The seashell captures the surrounding noise and resonates inside the shell.
